First Sewed Her Mind Giveaway and Other Exciting News

They say Facebook is where it's at, so I recently made a page for my Etsy shop. I'm going to use it for updates and sneak peeks about upcoming listings. I'm pretty excited about it. In fact, if you are too (and why wouldn't you be of course?) click on the Sewed Her Mind Facebook link on my sidebar. After that, feel free to "Like" my new page (because of course you like it, right?) If the page gets 100 Likes, I'll do a first ever Sewed Her Mind giveaway on this blog--a completely free and fun new outfit for your American Girl doll. I also have fabric ready to roll for some summer-time dresses for Kirsten, some more Spencer jacket/dress combos, and some pretty and simple calico gowns perfect for 1812. I can't wait for Caroline's debut, but before then another doll may come here to earn her keep as a model. I never thought I would buy her, but I just might need her to advertise some pretty things I have in mind, so stay tuned!

And lastly, does anyone like girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes? I do and so I'm going to offer a limited edition series of white dresses with blue sashes coming soon. But which doll to start with? Hmmmm . . . .

Feedsack Dress . . .

What's Been Going On Around Here . . .

While waiting for the arrival of our new little one, I spent a few weeks in March wrapping up custom orders for my Etsy shop. Then I deep cleaned my sewing machines and my sewing room. I put everything away and sent my scissors away to be sharpened. I thought I was done sewing for awhile.

But then I got bored. And antsy. So I decided that our Kirsten doll needed some new dresses (because sewing more doll clothes right before the birth of a new baby is completely logical, right?)

I found the prettiest robin egg blue print at my favorite quilting store and used it to make a version of Kirsten's work dress:

I also made a version of Kirsten's blue checked dress and embroidered apron. The apron was a perfect last-minute project. I really was too big and round to sit comfortably at my sewing machine, so sitting on the couch to embroider was perfectly fun:

Now that our little guy is here safe and sound, (and my scissors are newly sharpened) I'm looking forward to sewing again for my shop. I have a pile of cute feedsack reproduction fabrics waiting:

Feedsack dresses are so cheerful and perfect for summer--whether your doll lives in the Depression-era or not. I also have my eye on some really cool patterns I want to try, but am debating whether I really need Marie-Grace to properly model what I have in mind. I just might . . .
